Custom built wheelwash systems supplied and fitted to offer the best solution for individual applications. Systems designed to suit specific needs such as available space, traffic volume, type of muck and customer's budget. Existing features on site, such as ponds or settlement areas, can be utilised to reduce cost. In addition, existing features such as redundant weighbridge's can be utilised and converted to become part of the structure.

Example 1: RMC Wheelwash Installation

The system shown on the right was built on top of a redundant weighbridge, the deck was stripped and heavy duty angle irons fitted to provide a washing platform as well as a rumble grid. The area below the bridge was concreted to provide a sloping floor. The customer was also able to utilise existing ponds for settlement. A self-priming pump was fitted at the ponds, doing away with the need for a tank, tank fill pump and container to house. The end result was a very effective wash at a quarter of the price of a standard system.

Example 2: Alcan Chemicals

Alcan import bauxite, a red coloured mud which also acts like a dye and cannot be settled out by conventional means in settling ponds. The wash waste water must be treated with other chemicals in order to clean in. Alcan chemicals needed a system that would minimise the water consumption on the wash, since the wash was to be run off the mains water supply and then all the waste water treated in their effluent plant.

We designed a system that split the washing process into two sections with separate sumps. The clean water used in the second rinsing section of the wash could be reused in the initial wash section after being collected in a sump and pumped back to the first section feed tank.

The final solution cut the water consumption to a quarter of a standard system and the cost of the system was again less than a quarter of the standard systems they had looked at.
